Guy from Ankara promptly intervened after noticing a pick-up truck rolling down a hill with the handbrake presumably off.

Hated Tropes [Disliked trope] Hollywood myths portrayed as being correct, even in a time when the characters should know better.

NOT this trope: Historical pieces set in times in which people actually didn't know better. Ie, something set in the 18th century referencing Miasma theory (as it wasn't yet debunked), a cowboy drama set in the 19th century when people still thought you should suck venom out of a snakebite.

Examples OF this trope:

Friends [The one with the Jellyfish] Someone gets a jellyfish sting and they treat it by peeing on it. DO NOT DO THIS!!!! This was set in the 90s.

Little Clowns of Happy Town: They sing a song about what to do when someone's drowning. At one point, they raise questions - ie, if you can't find a life-preserver or a raft. They say "Then go in yourself". I don't need to explain why this is a bad idea, right? This was set in the 80s - even THEN they should know better.

"You have to wait 24-48 hours before reporting them missing", shown in King of the Hill: This is a common myth - the only reason I posted King of the Hill is that Luanne was told this by a police officer. In reality? You should not assume you have to wait 24-48 hours. These are the most crucial - especially for children, seniors, and in the cases of mental health.

24: Torture works and is effective. Do I really need to explain this?

Dear Diary ✍️🏻 I think I married an incel

When we met I was an escort and he was a client. We fell in love pretty quickly and pretty hard and have been together 14 years. He has made some unsettling comments about women over the years and a lot of it seems rooted in misogyny. He talks down against women who are accomplished and successful. He thinks women should be agreeable. He thinks there’s no such thing as inequality in the workplace, and the world is built for women. He has very strict rules for how women should behave. I think the women in his family reinforce that because they are all like that. I grew up kind of wild with a lot of women and we are the opposite. I think that’s what attracted him to me but it seems like he tries to change me.

He says he’s traditional but also wants to go 50/50 on everything. If we go to a coffee shop or for a slice of pizza, he won’t even pay for my order. It’s not even about him paying for me, it’s just embarrassing and makes it awkward to pay separately. I would rather we take turns paying. I’m pregnant and I recently asked him what he’s going to do when the baby gets here? Are we still going to pay for ourselves and who pays for the baby? How is that going to work?? And just this week he started paying for my coffees.

He teases me a lot. When I told him it hurts my feelings he said he’s negging me so I’ll stay with him. I told him it just makes me feel insecure and want to run into the arms of another man for comfort. I don’t understand why a guy would intentionally want their partner to have low self esteem. He always wants me to dress sexier, look hotter and be more confident but how can I do that when I feel bad about myself.

Serious My Mumma left the world today, and I'm really feeling helpless and alone

Post image

Today, my mumma lost her battle with Grade 3 brain cancer.

At 8:26 AM, she suffered a cardiac arrest. For a brief moment, the doctors managed to bring back her oxygen levels, and I held on to hope. But almost immediately after, she suffered a heart attack and left this world forever.

She had been in a coma for the last 10-15 days. The doctors said her pain receptors were no longer functioning, so I pray she didn't suffer. I want to believe she left peacefully. But the truth is, I don't know.

What breaks me the most is that I never got one last moment with her. I kept waiting for her to open her eyes just once. Just once. Maybe to ask, "Beta, tumne kuch khaya?" Maybe to smile. Maybe to say anything at all.

Instead, all I got was silence.

I feel so alone, so helpless, and so lost. People keep telling me to be strong, but how am I supposed to be strong when I was still just a kid to her? No matter how old I grew, I was always her son.

She loved me endlessly, and she was proud of me. That is something I will carry for the rest of my life.

Cancer may have taken her body, but it can never take away her love, her sacrifices, her memories, or the part of her that lives within me.

I love you so much, Mumma.

And I don't think a single day will pass without me missing you.

I can't even stop crying while writing this.
